About an inch of rain has drowned a 5,000-acre fire in the Mark Twain National Forest in the Salem-Bunker area. The fire actually was two fires. Forest fire management officer Jody Eberly says the two fires burned almost 5,000 acres. The fires are believed to be arson-caused. She says no structures were endangered and no wildlife appears to have been killed.
