Francona interviewing for Cards’ managerial job

November 8, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona is interviewing for the vacant St. Louis Cardinals managerial job. No official announcement came from the club, but anonymous sources are reporting that Francona and team officials talked about the job.

There are two more interviews scheduled for Wednedsay. They include third base coach Jose Oquendo and former Cubs second baseman Ryne Sandberg, who manages the Phillies AAA farm club.

GM John Mozeliak said it would be ideal to have a manager named before the start of next Monday’s GM meetings.
