Mizzou soccer wins Big 12 tourney opener

The Missouri soccer team advanced to semifinals of the Big 12 Championship after upsetting Baylor Wednesday afternoon in San Antonio, Texas. Missouri prevailed 4-3 on penalty kicks after the contest ended tied 2-2 after 110 minutes of play. Mizzou improved to 12-7-1 overall, while the Bears fell to 14-3-3.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper McKenzie Sauerwein saved the fifth Baylor PK then stepped up herself and converted the winning penalty to send the Tigers to the semifinals.

Mizzou will play Texas A&M , who defeated Kansas in penalties kick, in a match at 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
