Attorney General’s office warns of Stub Hub phishing scam (AUDIO)

November 1, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

The latest phishing scam Attorney General Chris Koster is warning Missourians about has to do with emails from Stub Hub.

A phishing scam is a way for scammers to try to get personal information like credit card numbers or social security numbers from people, voluntarily. Head of the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office, Dough Ommen, says there is one going on now having to do with Stub Hub, a website for buying tickets to events.

Ommen says the office doesn’t know who is doing this, it may not even be someone in the country. But if someone does think they’re a victim of fraud, he says to contact his office.

He says this is happening all over the country. He says most fishing scams are done through cell phones. He also says they’re normally though banks.
