“That was quite a show,” Missouri’s senior U.S. Senator says.
Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill says she’s disappointed with the legislature for wasting the special session and that playing politics has taken priority over creating jobs for Missourians.
McCaskill says she has been watching state government at work from Washington, especially on the China Air Hub, which she says is disappointing to see fail after herself putting a lot of work into trade deals with China as a U.S. Senator. It’s a plan that would create hundreds of export opportunities for Missouri agriculture and industry, and that it can still happen if legislators “get it together” before they return for regular session in January.
She also chides the general assembly for “doing nothing except passing a resolution that would eliminate 15,000 jobs in Missouri.”
She’s referring to a resolution that urged Congress to support Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, which is made in Texas. Lockheed Martin’s competition is Boeing, which makes its F/A-18 Super Hornet in Missouri. That bill was sponsored by Rep. Caleb Jones, a Republican from Central Missouri.
