The Secretary of State says House Republican’s recent attempts at canceling Missouri’s Presidential Primary is taking away ordinary Missourian’s right to vote.

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan says canceling the state’s presidential primary in February is the wrong response to the mandate from the national Republican Party to move the primary or risk being punished.

She says a caucus system makes Missourians commit to a party, rather than being able to vote in secret, which will exclude a lot of people.

The Republican Party of Missouri has decided to go to a caucus system. Because of that, they say the primary results won’t matter, so it will be a waste of the 8 million it will cost to run the primary.
