Lance Berkman doubled and singled off Texas starter Derek Holland and that was all the Cardinals could really muster as the lefty shut down St. Louis for 8.1 innings before turning the ball over to their closer in a 4-0 Cardinals loss. The World Series is now tied at 2-2.

Josh Hamilton doubled in Elvis Andrus in the bottom of the first inning as Texas grabbed an early 1-0 lead off Edwin Jackson, who managed to keep it a one run ballgame until the sixth. Jackson, who walked seven, gave up two free passes in that inning before Tony LaRussa went to the bullpen. Mitchell Boggs’ first pitch was smashed to left field by Mike Napoli giving the Rangers a 4-0 lead.

The only big Cardinals threat, if you can call it that, came in the ninth inning with one out. Holland walked Rafael Furcal and Rangers manager Ron Washington called on his closer Neftali Feliz. He walked Allen Craig, but then got Albert Pujols to fly to center and struck out Matt Holliday on a full count to end the game.
