Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for his 15th career shutout and Simon Gagne scored two goals in a 5-0 victory over the Blues in front of a sellout crowd of 18,118 at Staples Center.

Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Jarret Stoll each had a goal and an assist in the Kings’ North American home opener, where the team was gone for 18 days in Denver, Anaheim, Las Vegas, Hamburg, Stockholm, Berlin, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

It was a reversal of fortunes between the two goalies. Quick improved to 2-7-1 lifetime against St. Louis while Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak suffered his first loss in six career decisions against the Kings.

St. Louis ended a four-game road trip 1-3-0 as the Blues came up empty on four power plays and are in a 0-for-19 drought. Their 30th-ranked penalty-killing unit has allowed a power-play goal in every game this season.
