The Missouri Tigers finish a two-game homestand hosting #4 BCS ranked Oklahoma State who comes into Faurot Field 6-0. Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 in total offense averaging 551 yards per game. The bulk of that offense is coming from the pass game with the 1-2 combo of Brandon Weeden to Justin Blackmon.
Through six games, Blackmon has 53 catches, averaging 101 yards per game, down from the 148 per game average in 2010. However, Weeden’s numbers are on pace to be right in line with last year’s stats. Weeden is averaging 350 yards passing per game and hitting on almost 73% of his passes.

Meanwhile the Missouri Tigers lead an offensive category you wouldn’t expect…rushing. Heading into Saturday’s game, Mizzou leads the Big 12 with 236 yards per game and 5.5 yards per carry. A bulk of that is coming from Henry Josey. The 5’10 sophomore is ninth in the NCAA with 119 yards per game.

If OSU is vunerable it is in their defense. They rank 100th out of 120 teams. However, some of that could be from the fact that they’ve had huge halftime leads and were scaling back their pressure. Opponents are gaining 426 yards per game. The Cowboys had an easy non conference schedule, but a couple of tough conference games around a KU blowout. OSU beat #8 A & M 30-29 and beat #22 Texas by 12 (38-26).
OSU came into Faurot Field in 2008 when the Tigers were #3 in the country and the Cowboys beat Chase Daniel 28-23. With the offensive line issues slowly getting worked out and James Franklin making just his seventh career start, I’m not sure we can expect Mizzou’s offense to keep up with them, when we couldn’t take care of them in 2008 with one of top scoring offensive units in the country.
