Senator McCaskill blasts the Missouri House for supporting continued development of the Boeing F-35 Joint Strike Fighter while dismissing the F/A-18 Super Hornet.  The House passed the resolution that a lobbyist for Boeing competitor Lockheed-Martin had asked to have passed.  McCaskill, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, says Representative Caleb Jones’ resolution is a slap in the face to thousands of Missouri workers..

She says the F/A-18 is used by thousands of American service people throughout the world. On the other hand, McCaskill says, the F-35 is a poster child of a bloated, out-of-control, over-budget, behind schedule aircraft.

Governor Nixon has strongly criticized the resolution. So has Congressional candidate Ann Wagner, whose district would include the Boeing plant in St. Louis. McCaskill wants the House to pass a new resolution admitting it made a mistake when it passed the resolution by freshman representative Calib Jones of Moniteau County.
