Mizzou baseball raises over $12,000 for Joplin Little League

October 11, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Mizzou baseball raised $12,496 for the Joplin Little Leagues with its Joplin Relief Games against Iowa over the weekend at Taylor Stadium. The money will go directly to helping Joplin Little League rebuild its fields, which were damaged by a tornado on May 22, 2011.

$3,710 was brought in through ticket sales alone. The sale of former Mizzou baseball jerseys raised $2,250 and $4,081 was collected in private donations. Raffle sales and a silent auction helped raise more than $1,800 more toward the cause.

The Joplin Little League received plenty of supplies and equipment but was left with the task of rebuilding its fields after the disaster.
