Fire Safety week urges planning, practice (AUDIO)

October 9, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

This week is fire safety week, and local fire districts will be in schools helping kids learn about preventing and reacting to fires.

The state Fire Marshall says it’s coming up on a very dangerous time of year for fires in homes. Fire Marshall Randy Cole says that’s why this time of year is always a good time to review fire safety routines.

He says local fire districts take advantage of this week to talk to children in schools.

He says having two routes out of any room in the house is the best plan, and that families should have a fire drill a few times a year.
