Carpenter Throws Gem, Cardinals Move On To NLCS

October 8, 2011 By Missourinet Sports

Before the game the Rally Squirrel made an appearance, and maybe that is all the Cardinals needed as Chris Carpenter throws a 3 hit complete game masterpiece and the Redbirds are moving on to the National League Championship Series.  St. Louis beat Philadelphia last night 1-0, to win the NLDS 3-2 and now move on to play the rival Milwaukee Brewers.

The lone run came in the first after Rafael Furcal tripled, Skip Schumaker would drive him in with a groundout.

The Cardinals will play game one of the National League Championship Series tomorrow afternoon in Milwaukee.  The Brewers will start Zack Greinke.  Tony LaRussa has not said who will start for them.

St. Louis Cardinals game time is 3:05.
