‘The Wizard’ memorabilia in Treasurer’s Office unclaimed property auction Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinal fans will have a chance to pick up some items signed by one of the team’s greats tomorrow in Columbia.

Property that went unclaimed for five years in safe deposit boxes was turned over to the State Treasurer’s Office, who then tried unsuccessfully to find its owners or their families. Treasurer Clint Zweifel says that includes items autographed by “The Wizard,” Ozzie Smith. Those are a ball and a photograph of Smith in his Cardinals’ uniform.

Other highlighted items include pocket watches, gold coins and a gold comb. Money generated by the sale of unclaimed items remains in the custody of the state under the name of its owner until claimed.

To view the items in tomorrow’s auction or to see if the Treasurer is holding some of your stuff, visit the Office’s website.
