That is according to Interim Big 12 commissioner Chuck Neinas, who is confident the University of Missouri will remain a loyal conference member, after two days of meetings between the league’s athletic directors.

It is now known that Missouri had been eyeing the SEC conference while Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech were considering and being considered for the Pac 12. One source even said that the SEC had an informally invite to Mizzou.

After the meetings, the information gathered by Director of Athletics Mike Alden, will be taken to the Board of Curators. Neinas told reporters on a conference call Wednesday night. “I think that once they have an opportunity to fully understand and comprehend what the conference is doing that they will agree that Missouri should continue to be a good member of the Big 12 Conference.”

Whether or not Missouri stays is still a question mark I guess, however schools have not agreed on whether the league should expand or stay at nine. Some within the conference would be fine with nine, schools like OU and OSU would like 12, while Texas is OK with 10. However, one thing that does not appear to be an issue is if expansion should exclude other schools from Texas. There was “resistance,” as Neinas put it, from some existing members to adding teams from Texas.

“I’d say that’s changed,” he said.
