Ryan Raburn was hit by a pitch from Kelvin Herrera in the eighth inning and scored the go-ahead run. Don Kelly followed with a two run homer as the Detroit Tigers beat the Royals 6-3. Detroit has won 25 of their last 32 games.

Former Mizzou pitcher Max Scherzer began the game and went five strong innings. Jose Valverde finished up the Tigers’ win with his 47th save in as many chances.

Billy Butler doubled in a run, his 40th two-bagger of the season. Butler, Jeff Francoeur, Melky Cabrera and Alex Gordon all have 40 doubles this season.
