St. Louis’ Ralcorp turns down ConAgra buy-out offer

September 20, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

St. Louis-based Ralcorp says “no” a fourth time to a proposed takeover by ConAgra. ConAgra’s latest offer was for $5.2 billion.

Ralcorp plans to go ahead with plans to spin off Post Foods as a standalone company. Ralcorp chairman Bill Stirits will become the chairman of the new company.

Post makes up about one-fourth of Ralcorp’s business.
