Falcon CB fined $40,000 for hit on Jeremy Maclin (VIDEO)

September 20, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson will not face suspension, but he was fined $40,000 for his helmet to the jaw of former Missouri Tiger star Jeremy Maclin. This is the same guy who knocked himself and Maclin’s teammate DeSean Jackson out with a helmet to helmet hit last year.

Falcons coach Mike Smith said after the game that he believed it was a legal hit and “that’s the way we teach it.” Well, that’s a cheap shot. Leading with the helmet, under the chin is a cheap shot in my book.

Judge for yourself. Video of Maclin hit.

This was a physical game in which Eagles QB Michael Vick suffered a concussion when he was whipped into the leg of one of his offensive lineman. By the way, the Falcon who grabbed and twirled Vick? Former Missouri safety William Moore.
