Reports have been circulating over the weekend that with the move of Syracuse and Pittsburgh to the ACC, and now an almost certain move of Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac 10, the Big 12 and Big East have been discussing a merger of the schools that would remain from those dismantled conferences.  I’m joined by Manny Haley as we discuss the next move for Missouri.

Pressbox Podcast on conference realignment (20:00)

The Big East would have South Florida, Cincinnati, Louisville, Rutgers and UConn (although there is a report out that UConn has asked the ACC to join their conference) In addition, TCU is scheduled to being play in the Big East next year. If TCU moves forward with it’s plans and UConn stays that would give six teams from the Big East.

Missouri, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Baylor make up the remaining Big 12 schools. With 11 teams, would it be possible that this new conference would invite a school such as SMU? Or if UConn were to leave, would this conference stay with 10 schools?
