OU, Texas presidents given O.K. to explore conference realignment

September 19, 2011 By Bill Pollock

The board of regents for the University of Oklahoma and University of Texas have given their school’s presidents authority to explore conference realignment.

It appears as though this move will now pave the way for both schools to apply for membership into the Pac 12. It is also possible, any deals may include Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to form a 16-team super conference.

There has been much debate as to whether or not super conferences would make college football better which could give up regional rivalries. Regardless of whether or not Tech and OK State leave, with OU and Texas gone, the Big 12 will fold.
