Cards Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

September 17, 2011 By Missourinet Sports

The Cardinals spoiled the party last night in Philly as they keep the Phillies from clinching their 5th straight NL East title by beating them in 11 innings, 4-2.  Rookie Adron Chambers got his first major league hit by driving in the winning run.

Jadier Molina had a home run and Albert Pujols went 4 for 4.

The Redbirds have now won eight of their last nine and are 3 and a half games out of the NL Wild Card race and five and a half back in the NL Central.

Tonight Jake Westbrook gets the start against the Phillies Roy Oswalt.

St. Louis Cardinals game time is 6:05.
