The city of Wentzville has done what it needs to do to support a proposed $290 million expansion of the General Motors plant there. City aldermen have unanimously supported a bond proposal exempting GM from property taxes for ten years.

The plan will help finance $290 million in upgrades at the plant, which makes full-sized vans. GM says it’s planning to add a new product line and as many as 2,000 more jobs at the plant.

GM’s plant at Wentzville is one of only two automobile plants remaining in Missouri. Ford’s Claycomo plant is the other.
