A Ste. Genevieve man is in custody thanks to the help of a passer-by, who intervened when he saw that man struggling with a Highway Patrolman.
44 year-old Jason Becks had been pulled over, suspected of driving drunk, and struggled with the trooper along I-55 in St. Louis County. He had struggled free from the patrolman and was running when an off-duty nurse, Douglas Beis, tackled him. Beis and another passing motorist helped the trooper cuff Becks, who is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, and driving while drunk and with a revoked license.
