Former Goodland Police Officer arraigned for murders

September 13, 2011 By Mike Lear

A former Grandview police officer has been arraigned in connection with two murders in the last three years.

Jeffrey Moreland is accused in the murder of 30 year-old Cara Jo Roberts of Harrisonville in 2008, and 75 year-old Nina Whitney, who had been stabbed 22 times and strangled when her body was found last year in Kansas City. Moreland had dated her daughter years earlier.

He was arrested in Iowa after DNA evidence from a rape in late June in Harrisonville lead to the murder charges.
