Battered Rams injury update

September 13, 2011 By Bill Pollock

The Rams lost more than just a game against Philadelphia on Sunday. After soaking in all of the information, things could have been much worse.

To start, QB Sam Bradford’s right index finger is bruised. He’ll be monitored this week but there is no nerve damage and nothing broken. Steven Jackson does have a strained quadriceps. He’s likely out this week but will be watched on a day to day basis. Wide receiver Danny Amendola has a dislocated elbow that will not require surgery, but likely keep him out several weeks. The team still lists him as out just for this week.

The biggest shock came from the news on cornerback Ron Bartell. The team thought he had a stinger, but it turns out to be a fractured neck and he is most likely gone for the year.

CB Bradley Fletcher (toe), DE C.J. Ah You (wrist) and offensive linemen Jason Smith (ankle) Rodger Safford (lower leg) are all day to day.  The season could have really been lost if there would have been nerve damage to Bradford’s thumb and with the emergence of Cadillac Williams in place of Jackson, I’m a little more at ease with Jackson if he misses
