Police have charged 47 year old Anthony Falco Jr. with having the components of what they believe to be an improvised explosive device. Some of them were liquids contained in his suitcase. They were spotted by scanners at Kansas City International Airport. The contents of his baggage were destroyed.

US attorney for the Western District of Missouri, Beth Phillips says Falco has a history of mental illness. She says she believes screeners acted properly in closing down the terminal, based on the images on the scanner.

Ray Read of affiliate KCMO in Kansas City contributed to this report.
