Deadline to demolish Joplin buildings set for Oct. 15

September 9, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

The City of Joplin has given owners of tornado-damaged buildings until Oct. 15 to have them demolished. The order applies to building owners who do not plan to use the damaged structures for rebuilding. Owners of lots that don’t arrange for demolition will be billed by the city when city workers take down the building.

The city counts about 1,300 buildings that are affected by the order.
