Harris-Stowe State University  has picked a West Virginia college president as its new president. Doctor Albert Walker will succeed Henry Givens, who has led Harris-Stowe for 32 years, and has seen it move from a small teacher-training college that was a part of the St. Louis Public School system to a part of the state university system.

Harris-Stowe is one of two historically black colleges in Missouri. It’s new President, Walker, is a graduate of the other one, Lincoln University in Jefferson City. He leaves his job as president of Bluefield State College in West Virginia.
