Opponents of a proposed ballot issue limiting interest rates for payday loans are challenging the state auditor’s estimate of the costs of the proposal.

The suit says the fiscal note is inadequate because it suggests Missouri does not already have limits on the interest rates and does not mention that the costs of many loans would be limited to 36 percent if the proposal makes it to the ballot and is approved.
