Federal charges have been added to the state drug charges against former Carter County Sheriff Tommy Adams. A federal grand jury has indicted Adams and his former chief deputy, Steffanie Kearbey on charges of possessing and selling stolen firearms.
Adams has been ordered to stand trial on state charges of possessing and distributing methamphetamine.
Carter County is in southeast Missouri.
