Chicago Cubs starter Matt Garza pitched seven innings, allowing just five hits while striking out eight to win for the first time at Wrigley Field since June 27 as the Cubs pushed the Cardinals deeper in the Central standings with a 3-0 win on Saturday.

Aramis Ramirez hit a  two-run homer in a three-run fourth off Edwin Jackson (2-2). Jackson allowed five hits in seven innings after leaving his last start with a right hamstring cramp.  Starlin Castro led off with a single and Ramirez connected one out later for his 24th home run. Carlos Pena then tripled and Marlon Byrd doubled him home.

The Cardinals tried to get things going twice, but grounded into two double plays, raising their league high total to 136 double plays.
