The struggles for the St. Louis Cardinals continue as they go to extra innings, but drop the first of a three game series against the Cubs yesterday in Chicago, 5-4.

The Redbirds would blow a three run lead as the Cubs scored in the 5th and 7th before tying the game in the 8th.  They won the game on an RBI single in the 10th

Yadier Molina and David Freese did hit home runs for the Cardinals who lost to the Cubs for just the third time this season.

With another win by the red hot Brewers, St. Louis is now 7 ½ games out of first place in the NL Central, and also trail the Wild Card lead by the same margin.

Game two is this afternoon as Edwin Jackson gets the nod for the Cardinals against the Cubs Matt Garza.

First pitch is 3:10.
