Senath Police Chief Omar Karnes is still wondering why a neighbor would brutally kill a 3-year-old girl.

Karnes says finding Breeann Rodriguez’s remains will help the family with closure.

More than 50 law enforcement personnel spent four days from dawn until dusk scouring five floodway ditches to find her body … Karnes says now the investigation shifts to find a motive.

A public funeral is set for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Senath Church of Christ.

Meanwhile, accused killer 43-year-old Shawn Morgan has been given two more weeks to find an attorney … a hearing is slated for Aug. 30.

Morgan is charged with first-degree murder. He allegedly suffocated Breeann with a plastic trash bag after finding her near his backyard pool, then placed her body in the bag and dumped it along with her bike in the ditch.
