Clay Co. auditor resigns after felonious record emerges

August 19, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

Clay County’s auditor has resigned because he has a felony conviction on his record. State law bars convicted felons such as William Norris from holding office. Norris had signed a document when he filed for the office saying he had never been convicted of a felony.

He was convicted of aggravated stalking in Grundy County in 2006.

The Clay County prosecutor has not said if he will file a criminal charge against Norris.
