State Fair attendence is up from last year

August 18, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

The State Fair saw more than 1000 people at the Governor’s Ham Breakfast this morning. Fair Director Mark Wolfe says the first four days of the fair saw a huge increase in attendance, and he attributes both of those to the nice weather Sedalia has had.

The Jason Aldein Concert last Saturday sold out, and Wolfe says he’s confident they could have sold another 10,000 tickets if the fair could have held that many people. He says this weekend the fair has horse and tractor pulls, and some other good concerts planned.

Wolfe says other than Lynard Skynard canceling their show last week, no major problems have happened at the fair. He says there are lots of places for people to get water and sit in the shade if it does get hot in the middle of the day. He expects attendance to stay high for the last three days of the fair.
