A St. Charles County man whose unattended cigarette started a house fire that killed his 10-month-old son has been put on probation for five years and told to do 60 days of shock time in jail. Prosecutors say Cameron Penn admitted he left the hosue for at least 45 minutes to drink beer and smoke marijuana without making sure his regular cigarette was completely out. He has pleaded guilty to child endangerment in a plea bargain that reduced the charge from the original manslaughter.
