Policeman killed in SE Missouri

August 16, 2011 By [email protected]

A Caruthersville policeman has been killed and another officer has been hurt when a man they were chasing rammed their cars.  The Pemiscot County sheriff says a stolen car driven by an O’Fallon assault suspect crashed into the two police cars—killing officer Evan Burns, who was driving one of them.

The sheriff has filed murder and four other charges against O’Fallon resident Deonta Jamaan Williamson, 29..

Burns had been with the department for about two years.  Officer Richard Altice, who was driving the other car, has been hospitalized.
