The American Civil Liberties Union has field an injunction against Camden Schools for blocking access to websites about lesbian, gay and transgender lifestyles.

ACLU legal director Tony Rothert says all schools block some websites from students, but Camden is blocking certain viewpoints. He says when Camdenton School district got a letter from the ACLU, it refused to change its filter settings.

The ACLU says Camdenton’s filters block any websites that view lesbian, gay and transgender lifestyles positively, but do not block those that disagree with those lifestyles. He says Camdenton wouldn’t have to do much to stop the viewpoint discrimination.

Rothert says normally when school districts learn their filters are blocking these sites, they change it without protest, because it’s often unintentional.
