Tampa Bay Rays starter James Shields threw a six-hitter for his major league-best eighth complete game and Evan Longoria homered and had four RBIs as the Rays beat the Royals 4-0 on Tuesday night.

The Royals had one good chance in the third inning against Shields when they had two on and no outs but failed to push a run across when Alcides Escobar popped out on a sac bunt attempt and Alex Gordon grounded into a double play.

The game lasted just one hour and 53 minutes.
