Crystal City latest to remove OTC pseudoephedrine

August 9, 2011 By Jessica Machetta

Add Crystal City to the list of Missouri cities requiring prescriptions for the purchase of certain cold medicines. Three other Jefferson County communities have adopted similar anti-meth legislation — DeSoto, Festus, and Herculaneum.  Jefferson County passed a countywide ordinance in 2009 requiring prescriptions for medications with pseudoephedrine.

Jefferson County is one of a handful of Missouri counties that top the list of meth lab busts put out by the Highway Patrol each year.
