Mizzou football ranked 21st in preseason poll

August 5, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Oklahoma is college football’s No. 1 team, followed by Alabama and Oregon, in the coaches’ preseason poll. The Missouri Tigers came in ranked 21st.

The Sooners received 42 of the 59 first-place votes and Alabama picked up 13 first-place votes and Oregon, which lost to Auburn in last season’s Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, picked up two first-place votes.

The Tigers will have a tough climb this Big 12 season. Oklahoma State was ranked 8th, followed by Texas A & M 9th and Texas 24th. With the new, 10 team conference, the Tigers will face all four of those teams.
