Denmon makes U.S. University Games basketball squad

August 4, 2011 By Bill Pollock

The 12-member roster that will represent the U.S. in the 2011 World University Games men’s basketball competition has been set and Missouri’s Marcus Denmon has made the team.

The coaching staff consists of head coach Matt Painter from Purdue. Of course, he was heavily sought after by Missouri this past spring and Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin will serve as an assistant. He was Missouri State’s head coach last year.

The USA will play an exhibition contest against New Century, a Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) professional team, in Huizho, China, on Aug. 11, before opening World University Games play on Aug. 13.
