Defending MIAA champion Central Missouri was the unanimous selection for preseason No. 1 in the 2011 soccer coaches poll, the conference office announced Thursday. The Jennies received eight of nine first-place votes (coaches were not able to vote for their own school) and 64 points to take the top spot.

Truman received the other first-place vote and accumulated 57 points to take the No. 2 position. Central Missouri and Truman both made the NCAA South Central Regional last season.  Southwest Baptist was voted preseason No. 3 with 46 points, followed by Missouri Southern at No. 4 with 43 points. Washburn was selected fifth with 38 points, Northwest Missouri was picked sixth with 29 points, Missouri Western was voted No. 7 with 23 points, Emporia State comes in at No. 8 with 15 points, and Fort Hays State is No. 9 with nine points as the Tigers enter their first season of MIAA soccer. 

The 2011 soccer season will begin Thursday, Sept. 1. The MIAA season officially opens up Thursday, Sept. 15.
