A top state budget official says Missouri Veterans Homes don’t have to worry about having enough money to stay open. The state veterans commission has been using reserve funds on seven veterans homes because state funding has been cut.

The state budget office has told commissioners the state will not let any homes close.

The veterans trust fund set up for the homes once had almost 60-million dollars. It now has only three-million dollars.

The commission’s executive director has suggested increasing the cost to veterans by 150-dollars a month to meet the funding shortfalls.
