The United States Senate is expected to pass the debt ceiling bill today. The House passed it last night.
Congressman William Lacy Clay of St. Louis says the process of developing the compromise was messy but necessary. And he says the progressive win of his Democratic Party is “angry” and the right wing of the Republican Party, particularly the Tea Party faction, is “furious.” But Clay says that means the compromise landed somewhere in the middle.
