Joplin and Duquesne are getting more help with paying the cost of removing tornado debris. Governor Nixon says the state has to help the local governments after the disaster – by picking up ten percent of the cleanup tab.

Nixon says FEMA is to pay 90 percent of the cost of removing debris up to August 7th. He says he still hasn’t heard from Washington on his request to have that deadline extended. He did not say what percentage of the debris removal cost the state would pick up if the deadline is NOT extended. After August 7th, the Federal Government will pay seventy-five percent of the cost, with local government paying twenty-five percent.
