Rams without top pick for a few more days

August 1, 2011 By Bill Pollock

Rams first round draft pick, defensive lineman Robert Quinn missed Saturday’s first day of training camp for the birth of his son. Now he’s sitting out drills to rest a sprained knee from his workouts in North Carolina.

Quinn stayed back in North Carolina for the arrival of Robert Quinn Jr., a new 8-pound, 21-inch future defensive lineman. Quinn joined the Rams on the practice field for Sunday’s walk through as well as the afternoon practice but did not participate in either workout because of issues from the offseason sprain.

According to Quinn, it’s just about healed, but because he hasn’t played football in more than a year after being suspended for his final college season, the Rams are taking precautions not to risk further injury.
