Excessive heat is dangerous for cars

August 1, 2011 By Brian Hauswirth

Taking in a lot of fluids help people stay cool in the extreme heat, but it is also essential for keeping cars running. Highway Patrol Captain Tim Hull says to make sure radiator fluid and coolant are two important fluids.

He says making sure the car is full of fluids, especially radiator fluid and coolant is important. He says to make sure the air conditioning in your car is working in case of traffic jams. Hull says if your car does stall and you have no one to call, you can call *55 for the highway patrol to come help out.

Hull says the hot pavement is hard on tires too, so making sure they’ve got the correct air pressure could prevent a blowout. He says keeping a cell phone in the car is important in case the car does break down, and a driver needs to call for help. Keeping water in the car is a good idea too.
