Edwin Jackson, making his debut with St. Louis, would go seven innings to get the win.
Pujols is the 5th Cardinal to get two thousand hits, and the 263rd Major League Player to hit the milestone. Other Redbirds in this club are Stan Musial, Lou Brock, Rogers Hornsby, and Enos Slaughter.
