Rasmus Goes From One Birdhouse to Another

July 27, 2011 By Missourinet Sports

As the Cardinals continue to make the push for the post season, it appears they are making a trade today to help out their pitching.  Several media sources, including ESPN is reporting that Colby Rasmus has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays.  In return, the Redbirds get pitcher Edwin Jackson.

Jackson was traded earlier today from the Chicago White Sox to Toronto.

Along with Rasmus, St. Louis is sending pitchers Trever Miller, Brian Tallet and PJ Walters to the Blue Jays.  The Cardinals will also get pitchers Marc Rzepczynski and Octavio Dotel.  Outfielder Corey Patterson would also become a Redbird.

Once all of this is complete, Miller will then be sent from Toronto to the Chicago White Sox.

The St. Louis Cardinals will go for the sweep tonight against the Houston Astros.  Chris Carpenter will start for St. Louis against the Astros’ Bud Norris.

First pitch is set for 7:15.
